The following tips are created for clients who need to know how to compile their web content for submission to Atawe Design. It is by no means exhaustive…just some things for you to think about.
Compiling texts
- Please compile all the text content for your site into one document and email it as a Word document attachment.
- Use the Web Site Design Proposal document for the page menu structure and try to arrange your contents according to the menu structure.
- We can’t read minds so please clearly mark at the top of the page where you want the content to go.
- Do NOT worry about the font type, size, or color as we will convert the texts to fit html codes anyway which removes pre-formatting to match the overall design scheme. Just stick with one font (preferably Times New Romans).
- Proofread! Proofread again! Your submission should be the final text free of grammatical and spelling errors. Think launch day readiness.
- Web surfers today do NOT like text-heavy websites. So, submit short and concise paragraphs, bullet points, phrases, photos.
Compiling images
- It is true that “a photo is worth a thousand words.” Think more visually (photos), less textually (words).
- The quality appearance of your web site depends a lot not only on the overall design, but on the photos you choose for your web pages. Our design philosophy is to stay away from clip arts as they can tend to make the pages look amateurish. Photos are always best. When taking photos and choosing photos to put on your website, choose wisely.
- Optimizing digital photos for clarity, visual effect, and faster download is a time consuming process. We always prefer to take the photos ourselves of scenes related to our client’s website, but we know that is a cost that most clients prefer to forego and take the photos themselves.
- We prefer receiving digitized photos on a CD or in some cases via email, but there may be an old photo that just has to be used on the website. We can scan a photo, but will charge a fee if we have to scan more than 5 photos.
- Prepare captions for each photo. If you’re emailing a photo, simply include a 1-sentence caption with it. If it is a hard copy photo, you may affix a PostIt Note to it and also indicate which Web page it goes on.
- If you need us to prepare specialized graphic elements in addition to our custom site graphics package, please explain clearly, and perhaps include a sketch.
